The Christmas Post!

FINALLY getting around to this.

Step One

  • Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple ("I'd like a couple new LJ icons made just for me.") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD.") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
  • If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
  • Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

  • Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
  • If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
  • You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
  • There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

[livejournal.com profile] xnera's wish list!

  1. I would like everyone on my friends list to do one random act of kindness sometime in 2006. It doesn't have to cost you any money. If you see someone who's having a tough time, do something to put a smile on their face. Write them some fic, draw them a picture, send them an ecard, give them a call, Paypal them some money--whatever. Just one random act of kindness. You can even make it anonymous, if you like. :D
  2. I keep threatening to make new icons for myself, but I never do. So, some new icons would be lovely! I'm looking for a non-animated "wibble" icon, a "tired" icon, a "squee" icon, and a "wtf?" icon. Other icons that feel very [livejournal.com profile] xnera-ish will happily be accepted. Some fandoms you might want to consider for icons: Read Or Die (the TV), Fruits Basket, Descendents of Darkness/Yami No Matseui, Gravitation, Fullmetal Alchemist, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, [livejournal.com profile] nocturne_alley, and anything else I've mentioned in my journal. Also, general pretty pictures are good. :D You'll notice from the icons I've made for myself that icons do not necessarily have to be complex; a simple base with some funny text slapped on it works, too.
  3. FLOATING PENS. I collect 'em. I love 'em. I want more of 'em. :D Seriously, this is one of the best things a person can get me. It's a guarenteed squee! :D
  4. I do NOT need LiveJournal paid time. I have plenty, and don't mind paying it myself.
  5. Anything on my Amazon.com wishlist.

Next up: OMG U WANT A CARD LOLZ? Yes, I am sending Christmas / Hanukah / Festivus / Kwanzaa / Yule / Winter Solstice / Recursive Monkey greeting cards this year! :D I'd love to send one to you! Just comment below with your address, how you want the card addressed, and what holiday you celebrate, and I will send you a card! Including pets is encouraged. Comments are screened on this post.

Please also let me know if you have a Holiday Card post that I may have missed. I've been very busy lately and have only been skimming my friends list, so I'm sure I've missed some.

Finally, I am offering up my entire collection of Christmas music!. If you see something you want, just comment on that post and I'll YSI. :D
