AHHHH!!!! Where's my macro attachment thingy?!?!

And my old slide film?

And the polarizer lens for the AE-1?

And my blasted lens caps?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

*runs around like mad trying to find stuff*

At least everything fits in my dad's old camera bag. It is carrying: 1 Canon AE-1 with 50 mm lens attached; 1 Canon Digital Rebel with Canon 50 mm f/1.8 attached; 1 Konica Minolta Zoom 160C; 1 zoom lens for the drebel; 1 wide angle lens for the AE-1; an extra battery for the drebel; lens brush and cloth; remotes for drebel and minolta; four rolls of film (1 Ilford B&W, 2 Fuji Sensia slide; 1 random icky Kodak that I bought out of desperation a few months back; 2 Compact Flash cards.

Heavy. But I know I'd be mad if I didn't bring everything.

Got to finish finding everything and hop in the shower.

grr

Okay. I know my house is not the cleanest right now. But, it's been a LOT worse. So surely--SURELY--I can find my ebay package that arrived a few days ago. Yes, it is a small package--the size of a double CD. But that's large enough to be spotted, I would think.

And yet. I have searched the living room, bathroom, and library numerous times, and I cannot find my package. I am not at all pleased. No, it's not a present that is in need of wrapping and gifting. That's because it's a present FOR ME. I want my present!

In happier news, I spent over three hours walking around downtown today taking photos because the weather was BEAUTIFUL. The digital pics have been uploaded already! Here's a sample:

I've been playing on Flickr most of today. I'm in a photography mood. :D

Was browsing photos of one of my contacts, and saw she mentioned that she's receiving over half a million views. WOW! This caused me to wonder how many views I've had, so I looked.

Your photostream has been viewed 513 times.

....AWESOME.

To celebrate, here's a photo! Looking down on the CTA's Holiday Train. Click it to see an enlarged view.

all photos get cut! because I am nice )

I have been rather envious of the gorgeous Lucy photos that [livejournal.com profile] dorrie6 keeps posting. Because they are QUITE gorgeous. And everytime I see them, I get the photography itch.

I especially itch to photograph Raina. I love the Lucy action shots, and so I'd love to have some Raina action shots. This is nigh impossible to do, though, unless I get someone over to play with her while I burn through a few rolls of film.

However! I now have some gorgeous stills of Raina-chan! These were taken LAST summer; I'd honestly though I lost the roll of film. But lo and behold, it turned up in the batch of film I got developed today, and oh, am I happy. :D

BEAUTIFUL Raina behind the cut! )

Wabash and Randolph, or thereabouts. Definitely Wabash, not sure of the cross street. No cropping or editing, just rotated.

My gods is my friends list going nuts over this news. *snerks* I guess it's a big deal, huh?

Here is a picture for [livejournal.com profile] weathergirl_03! I didn't take this one, but I stumbled upon it on flickr and thought it was cool.

Goooooood day. Not as much done as I was hoping, but I worked hard and completed two important assignments. I am going to celebrate by getting smelly stuff from Bath & Body Works tonight. Yay! And hope I find something to shoot that will have as much interestingness (love that word) as this photo.

I was uninspired today, so you get photos of my cat. I fear she may become a popular subject.

Uncropped version. And the full set.

The Misfit
Originally uploaded by xnera.
So as I mentioned, Dad got a new digital camera and is letting me borrow his old one. Yay! It's pretty basic, but it's still a good chance to take lots of shots and work on my technique. I've decided to challenge myself to post one digital photo a day. Photos that don't get chosen as the featured photo will be posted to The Rejects set.

So, over on Flickr there's a women named Rebekka who's been doing experiments with gravity. She's been tossing apples into the air and taking photos of them, with herself in the frame. The results have been amazing--but there's been some wankiness because folks just don't believe that the images aren't photoshopped.

My take on this, which I left in a comment on one of her photos:

Even if this IS fake (and I don't think it is), this picture is very well done technically. And I don't mean photoshopping skills. The lighting and focus are magnificent--obviously done by someone who understands depth of field and shutter speeds. It looks like the stuff I've seen at my camera club's weekly contests, where they show only their best work. Well done! I'm impressed.

Does it really matter if an image is photoshopped or not? I don't think so. Long before Photoshop, photographers have been using mechnical and darkroom tricks to create images that don't exist in the real world. Make some long timed exposures at night and set off a flash every now and then, and you have a good chance of producing a ghost. You can sandwich negs or do selective printing to make collages. And many other tricks exist. Photoshop's just another tool, and anybody who thinks a "real" photographer wouldn't use it hasn't read a photography magazine recently.

You can see one of Rebekka's photos here.

Anyway, enough with the rant. The real reason I'm blogging this is because someone did a parody, and, well, you've got to see it because it is FUN-NY!
